On April 21, 2025, Pope Francis' physical life came to an end.
In early 2023, images went viral that purported to show him wearing extravagant and expensive clothing. Since realistic AI-generated content was still new at the time, many believed the images to be real.
Following his death over the Easter weekend, there has been a flood of AI-generated content featuring him as the central motif.
It is particularly interesting that there is very little content of a negative nature.
It seems more as though he is being honored — with the help of AI tools.
The videos look realistic and are accompanied by music.
Some videos show him with famous personalities who have already passed away.
Further videos show the life of the former pope.
The individual stages of his career up to his appointment as head of the Roman Catholic Church are visualized.
